Wikipedia says prosperity “Is the state of flourishing, thriving that encompasses wealth but also includes other factors which can be independent of wealth to varying degrees, such as happiness and health.” Prosperity can certainly come in many forms. It is a state of mind, a way of thinking that has little to do with material gain.
There are those who possess much in material wealth but live in poverty. Often the more one has, the more fear arises about losing it. Even with excessive wealth, it may not be enough to retire, to live on, and to maintain the same lifestyle. This is an example of scarcity thinking. Scarcity broken down becomes Scare city.
Many of us have at one time or another been a resident of Scare city, it is located in the state of Despair, in the country of “Oh no, we will never make it.”
There is another state, it is the state of Gratitude and the city is Prosperity. It is just across the border from Scare city.
Napoleon Hill says that “Desire is the starting point of all achievements.” Desires stem from dreams. He said, “If you can dream it, it means you can conceive it. If you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it.”
A burning desire to be and do something is the starting point from which the dreamer must take off. Dreams, a purpose for good, a plan which includes hard work and a knowing that obstacles are only disguised opportunities. Ask yourself, “How badly do I want this?” Do you long for it?
Faith is also an important step in prosperity. Faith is a state of mind that is created by affirmations, visualizations, and repetition. It is well known that one comes to believe whatever one repeats to oneself, whether the statement is true or false.
My own acronym for FAITH is:
Future Vision
Action
Imagination
Thoughts
Heart

Napoleon Hill taught that once you have fixed your mind on your heart’s desire, you must determine exactly what you intend to give back in return for the prosperity you wish to achieve. There is no such reality as something for nothing. What we receive, we give a portion back so that all may prosper. What are your dreams and desires?
